Activity objective
To make an executive presentation for a foreign client with all the required information.
Instructions
The presentation should follow this structure (at least one slide per sentence):
- Start with a clever business quote that is relevant to your project.
- Introduce yourself in order to generate empathy.
- Mention who you are, who you work for (consultancy firm), what brought you here, what it means to you to work with them as a client.
- Use your findings on the actual Mexican business environment for the fictitious company of choice.
- The relationship between Mexican demographics and the purchasing power. Is it favorable for them or their products?
- How can the Mexican political system help or undermine their endeavor?
- How will it play out within the Mexican economic system, especially the economics surrounding that certain industry?
- How can they use the Mexican legal system and relevant government regulations to their favor?
- How do foreign direct investments work in Mexico? Are there any fiscal incentives they can take advantage of?
- How is the Mexican peso doing? Analyze the monetary trends around it.
- An insight on Mexican culture in the workplace: what they will find and how to deal with it.
- How to comply with relevant fiscal and/or environmental regulations that apply to that specific industry?
- Write about what to expect of Mexican hiring practices, employment benefits, minimum wage standards, and the role of labor unions.
- Enlist relevant trade policy details in terms of signed free-trade agreements, tariffs, subsides, import quotas, antidumping duties, etc.
- Write a recommendation on which strategic decisions might bring success to the expansion efforts.
- Should they enter the Mexican market? If so, when should they start? What are the costs?
- What are the scales? Should they enter the national market directly or through the regional market instead? Why?
- Between exporting, licensing, franchising, joint ventures, and owned subsidiaries, which entry mode is their best option?
- Are there any acquisitions or strategic alliances to be made?
- Conclusions.
