This credential comprises three topics, covering the principles of pharmacology, the main medication groups for each body system, and the aspects of safe monitoring of the entire process.

The NCLEX will assess the learners' understanding of medication administration and their proficiency with the most commonly used medications in both acute and ambulatory settings.

Learners should be able to calculate the correct dosages, educate patients about their medication plans, and monitor patients' responses to specific drugs. Test takers need to be familiar with titrating doses, properly disposing of medications, and storing them safely.

Nurses should be able to explain the use of central venous access devices, the proper administration of medication through these devices, and safety measures to prevent infection from venous access devices.

Learners need to understand the medication reconciliation process and how to administer medicine for pain management, as well as those considered high-risk. Finally, they should be aware of how to provide parenteral nutrition and intravenous infusion.

All the skills mentioned above are highly relevant to the daily activities of any nursing profesional. That is why these concepts should be constantly reviewed.
