It has become clear that mental health is just as important as physical health. The experiences of everyday life are integrated differently for every person, depending on the mindset they are currently in. A challenge at work can be fun for someone but a tragedy for another. A change in a routine could be exciting for one person, but a cause of tension for someone else. In pathological cases, individuals with mental conditions may face serious complications in situations that appear normal to others, necessitating intervention by knowledgeable professionals in the field to be able to properly intervene.
During the Psychological Adaptation Credential, we will review in four topics the general concepts of mental health, the historic evolution of this field, including key figures and milestones, the major groups of mental illnesses, and the role and interventions of the psychiatric nurses.
Just like the psychiatric patient is unique, so must be the physical space where they are treated and the team taking care of them. Nursing professionals must provide general care to mentally ill patients while also assessing their specific conditions, progression, and current state. This skill is crucial in ensuring the highest quality of care.
